There are 54 countries in Africa. All these African nations have national flags. Due to the number of flags, some are almost similar. Mali and Senegal, for example, have flags that share the design of the yellow, green and red stripes. But the Senegalese flag has a green star in the middle of the yellow stripe.
The flags of Africa closely resemble the diversity found in the continent. Some, like that of Kenya, has a traditional shield and two spears, which symbolize protection. It has four colors: green, red, black and white. The shield and two spears are also found on the Kenyan coat of arms.
The Flag of South Africa has a “Y” design made up of red, yellow, green, blue, white and black colors. But the flag of Egypt has a gold eagle that represents the North African nation’s coat of arms, and has red, black and white colors.
